The Bible for Argentine birds

This is the classical guide for the Atlantic southern areas of South America, including most of the species also seen in Chile and the Antarctic Peninsula. There is also a shorter version for those interested just in the southernmost birds, in Spanish: Guía de aves de Patagonia, Tierra del Fuego & Antártida, ISBN 9789879132098, available from amazon.com .

Great field guide

A very complete and beautifully illustrated field guide to the birds of Argentina and Uruguay. It features a range map, good description of the bird and a photo and illustration of the birds. The package also included a bird checklist and dvd of bird songs for many of the bird. This is a must book for anyone going to bird in Argentina or Uruguay.

A little pricey for a bird guide but it seems to cover all 1000 birds in two languages. It has photos, drawings with habitat background, maps where found, and good short descriptions. Also a I-VI rating on the probability of seeing the bird. The back cover says "contains DVD with 900 bird sounds". The book actually contains a CD of sounds which plays on a computer.
